Iron Man blasts to 100+ million opening.

In a feat that's incredible in every sense of the word, Iron Man blew up the box office this weekend in the debut of the Summer Blockbuster season. Opening at 8pm on Thursday and never letting up, the Robert Downey Jr (REALLY?) flick pulled in an estimated $104.25 million dollars.

Made of Honor, another newcomer this weekend, was in 2nd place with 15.5 million. Obviously a hueg like X-BOX difference between the top two slots.

Baby Mama dropped to third with an additional 10.3 million, bringing its two week total to 32.3 million.

The latest Apatow flick, Forgetting Sarah Marshall narrowly beat out the fifth place film Harold and Kumar 2. Marshall won 6.1 million while the stoner flick that also features Neal Patrick Harris obtained another 6 million. Their totals now stand at 44.8 and 25.2 million respectively.

Harold and Kumar and The Forbidden Kingdom saw terrible drops as their audiences were catered directly to by the juggernaut comic book film Iron Man.

In its 3rd weekend, Jet Li and Jackie Chan earned 4.2 million for sixth place and currently has 45.1 million in the bank.

In seventh, the children's flick Nim's Island, gained another 2.7 million. It's total stands at 42.5 million after five weeks.

The Prom Night remake, 21, and 88 minutes rounded out the top 10.

When it came to independent flicks like Son of Rambow, well things didn't go so well for the kid friendly Brit film. With only 5 screens though, it's unsure if this is going to be the trend for the platforming release. It earned 52k. I really hope it gets a shot to play in more arenas, but considering the onslaught of big flicks coming up, I worry about it's chances.
