LOGO dubs Mary's in Atlanta: Best Gay Bar in US
It's nearing midnight on Saturday, and a gaggle of women in trendy dresses snake their way through Mary's bar in a cloud of perfume and make-up.
The women walk past a transgender woman waiting to sing Elton John at karaoke. They push through a throng of white and black gay men deep in conversation about the presidential election. They sidestep an East Atlanta local who walks down in a baseball cap to grab a beer.
"We're not here for the men, and they're not interested in us," one woman says, explaining why she and her friends — all straight — headed out to a gay bar in the East Atlanta Village for the night. "We're just out to have a good time."
The word about good times at Mary's has apparently gotten out. Logo, a cable channel geared to the gay community, last month named Mary's the best gay bar in the country.
The best gay bar in the country? As in, better than the swank spots in L.A. with guest lists and lines of wannabes at the door. Better than the New York clubs where Lindsay Lohan was known to jump on stage and sing (pre-breakdown, of course).
Mary's, named for the campy term of endearment among some gay men, is a self-described dive bar known mostly for its karaoke. It's where kitschy theme nights feature the likes of a Double-Dutch jump rope battle or dressing up as your favorite Frenchie for Bastille Day.
"At Mary's you never know who is sitting next to you or what will happen next," said John Polly, the editor with Logo Online who collected a national panel of travel writers, journalists, party promoters and gay celebrities to decide what rose to the top. "People are charmed by that."
Put another way, anything can happen at Mary's. It often does.
Co-owner Mike Dover remembers the time a giant RV lumbered into the back parking lot. A lesbian couple decked out in tie-dye were on their way home to Florida from the Bonnaroo music festival in Tennessee when they called around to bars in Atlanta. Mary's had the nicest person answer the phone, so they decided to stop there.
Meanwhile, a limo dropped off a bachelorette party at the front door. Tipsy and celebrating, they wanted to have another toast to the soon-to-be bride.
On most nights, Mary's is a mix of gay and neighborhood patrons. But everyone is welcome in the two-story bar, where the ceiling drips white Christmas lights and '60s and '70s paintings adorn the walls.
"All the things that are right about Atlanta get reflected in this bar," said co-owner Bill Overall. "It's the mix of people in a place where it all just comes together."
Adds Dover, "We're neighborhood people, gay people, straight people, black people, white people. Why can't we all go to the same place?"
That attitude of a gay Cheers — only not too gay — strikes a chord with regulars and newbies alike.
Tara O'Bryan had just moved to Georgia last year when a friend took her to Mary's. A transgender singer, O'Bryan was expecting a cookie cutter gay bar, where she would feel isolated by not fitting the mold.
Instead, her regular table in the corner became known as the Diva Section by other regulars and staffers. It was where, two weeks ago, her boyfriend got down on one knee and proposed.
"It doesn't really surprise me that this is the best gay bar in the entire nation," said the 27-year-old O'Bryan. "I'm just glad they got it right."
A few minutes later, O'Bryan pierced the bar sounds with her take on "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me," the Elton John song. "I can't light no more of your darkness," she sang.
The crowd cheered while others waited for their turn at the karaoke mic. The next wave of songs would feature tunes from the '80s, Motown and even some country.
At Mary's, there's something for everybody.Labels: breeder news, clubbing, gay news, local news, television, trap

Nothing special.
Another Friday night out was nothing special. I've actually cut back on my going out by like 66% since money is always kind of an issue. Still, it was nice to see several of my friends even if they weren't named Kaze or Tatsuo. Actually Tat is in Japan. He has a brother who's ill and things aren't looking good again. So he made an emergency trip overseas. That had to have cost him a great deal of cash since it was spur of the moment.
I hope that like a similar trip last year, this will only just be a minor bump in the road for his brother and that all will turn out if not well, at least more comfortably.
As for me, like I said, nothing really all that special. I enjoyed talking with DJ Rick Walsh for a song or two. Now that I know exactly what he's doing up there having done some of it myself, it's alot more interesting to watch. He does his transitions with such smooth execution. It's fabulous.
Speaking of Ricks, there is another Rick that I see there often. I paw and smooch with him quite often. I'm fond of the older guy even though he keeps saying things like "old enough to be your father." He's a lean, androgynous type with a real character in that he wears these totally revealing outfits. I like him, and we keep talking like something's gonna give eventually, but nothing has yet.
Nothing special.Labels: boys, clubbing, DJ Kaze and Tatsuo, Heretic, Japan

All Proud Out.
Considering I go out pretty much every weekend, Pride Weekend for me was just more. More nights. More people. More everything. Including more nothing, as in, I still managed to not get any.
I was offered, but the guy who did was none to my liking despite us having some things in common. He just didn't have the looks I'd need to appreciate making the beast with two backs with.
As for my own pursuits, I managed to drive a guy that I've known for a few months home, and nothing happened there either. He's taller than I, short short blond cropped hair, and is a few years older, yet looks a few years younger. And though we're kissing friends, that's where we still remain.
Still, the extended weekend wasn't too bad of a bust. I spent just shy of what I expected thanks partially to Kaze and Tat being so generous as well as managing to sweet talk my way on The Bodyshop's guest list. To bad DJ Duo Yoshi Mac put on a marginal set. In fact, all the DJs seemed to be taking no chances with their oversized crowds.
I have one more day off, tomorrow, before I go back to work bright and early Tuesday morning. And I think that's just fine. I need to get my finances boosted back to smoother levels anyway.
As for updates on the site: Provided thunderstorms don't strike yet again tomorrow, I'll be back to posting a handful of shotalicious goodies then.
Ah yes, one more bit of information: Elf's housewarming party on Thursday went down as actually one of the highlights of the whole weekend. While I was surrounded by breeders, this fag actually took it in stride and had a good time even when I wasn't following my favorite trap around like a lost puppy.
Happy Pride to you all whenever your area celebrates such. And honestly, be proud year round!Labels: alcohol, boys, breeder news, clubbing, colin, DJ Kaze and Tatsuo, Elf, gay news, Heretic, money, music, personal, shotalicious, The Body Shop, trap, work

A long weekend underway.
Last night was the beginning of a long weekend for your faithful webmaster.
Friday night I spent at Heretic as per usual. The beats were okay, but I wasn't so much in the mood for dancing. I've been in the mood for sex. But I didn't quite manage that either. I did sell the remaining 2 copies of "Later, Skater" bringing my total sold to 16 in person and 7 online: 23 copies so far in all. That's a great start but I want more! Go check it out and see if a copy wouldn't fit nicely on your bookshelf.
Shinji was also there. We seem to have a odd connection now where I don't like him and hate how he's mean to me and yet I still make out with him. Very strange. I wished we'd fuck. It'd probably be way hot.
Started Saturday off with a terrible hangover, but ironically it didn't last long. That's very good since this afternoon I have the Asian Express Pool Party with DJ Kaze. Following that is DJ Eddie Baez at Heretic. Last time he was there 900 people packed the house.
Not to be outdone with fun and sexiness, Sunday I'm going to visit Fang and Pirrip. They are the delicious artists you can see linked on the left hand side. Long time friends they are some of the most delicious boys I know. I'm looking forward to getting a closer look at some of their work, Korean BBQ, and breaking all of Fang's rules of his new decked out room. (I'm kidding, dude. I'll make sure to only use the bed for sleeping and sex.)
Thankfully I requested Monday off so I can recover what I hope to be a real memorable weekend. It'll be made even more so if I can manage to get a little boyxboy goin' on. I swear.Labels: alcohol, clubbing, DJ Kaze and Tatsuo, Fang, Heretic, holiday news, later skater, personal, shota, yaoi

"A lot of fire in this one."
Shinji is a proclaimed seme. And with his buzz hair cut, frayed ball caps, and cologne I could have predicted such. The topic came up when Kaze, Tatsuo, Shinji and myself were all at WETbar on Saturday night. Enjoying the open bar up in the SKYbar lounge part of the sprawling nightclub, Shinji said he was seme. When I tried to capture more kisses, he tried but ultimately failed to slip away. "A lot of fire in this one," I exclaimed happily.
"There's going to be a lot of butting heads." Kaze explained.
But I can take it. I was turned uke before when I dated Ashley for over three years. And quite honestly, I actually don't mind the role at all. Kind of crave the feelings of comfort and security. That is after being held down and buttraped. I'll certainly need to regain my abilities in taking such though since it's been over two years since I've been on the receiving end of a hot beef injection.
But back to Shinji and the night at WETbar. Yes, the same WETbar I was so angry at for kicking me off the shuttle at 3am because they decided to stop running it for the night. Well, it was better this time, thankfully, and Shinji really did like the space. It's beautiful with many levels, the upstairs patio, and outside gardens.
We danced a bit, though never on the actual dance floor (packed due to DJ Tracy Young.) We kissed a bit, though it wasn't nearly enough for me (probably due to his bashfulness being around my friends.) And we made it pretty well stated that something is starting to go on between us.
I know we need to do something outside of the nightlife soon. Going to Speed Racer was mentioned but that's not until May, so something before then. Something that hopefully grants me more time with Shinji who may have only been joking when he said he was dumping me as his boyfriend. It was exclaimed to Kaze when he was telling us that my directions were bad since exit 250 was closed. Oops! But hey, did he say boyfriend?
I'm pretty sure I would label it as "dating" at this point if I was told I had to give it some sort of classification. After all, we only somewhat know each other and are only at first base. Hehehe. Still, I'll take it. Because like I said to Kaze while the two semes (Tatsuo and Shinji) were wandering around while we were outside chatting, "Not to put too much emphasis on everything, but if this IS something, it is what I've been kind of training the last several years for: A Japanese boyfriend."Labels: clubbing, DJ Kaze and Tatsuo, personal, Shinji, WETbar

Get Busy Child
The Crystal Method roared into WETbar's DJ booth and took the mostly rolling and mixed-sexual orientation crowd by storm. With a hard trance ferocity, they rocked their set without giving the people gathered much time to collect their breath. While they only played 3 of their own songs (that I could recognize through the heavy layering and improved remixing), I don't think anyone went home disappointed.
Well, except one guy that I was with.
He is older, has shoulder length long hair, and is best described as looking like a rock musician -- except he actually installs audio/visual equipment for business and residence.
I'd seen him a long time ago at Heretic, but he'd been going mostly to Blake's and WETbar lately and they had been treating him quite well after he installed some new equipment for them.
So this got us into VIP which as I think I've stated before really isn't all that amazing. But I guess it's just the allure of something the great unwashed can't get into that makes it all so much better, right?
So anyway, this guy, he's hot, handsome, really into me. Too much into me, actually and that becomes off putting. I let him know rather quickly that his aggressiveness is too much for me. I try to go more on the attack with little success. And though I had a moderately good time making out with him and bumping uglies on the dance floor to what should be Barack Obama's theme song for the younger set (Keep Hope Alive), I just couldn't go home with him.
I turned him down.
Maybe in the end that my way of finally overpowering an extremely dominate seme. But I started to think about how it wasn't going to work out anyway. While I can please some as uke, I'm not especially good at the role in the bed. While it's always great to do things out your ordinary comfort zone, I didn't think it would lead to anything really all that pleasant. At least not for me.
And you know NOT going home with him STILL was quite unpleasant as WETbar and Blake's shuttle stopped running after I was to be the only one needing to ride it back to my car. They actually told me to get back off the bus, they were shutting it down. I complained. I knocked on the closed WETbar door and complained some more to the bartender who opened it. And after walking the 8 blocks back to my car at 3:30 in the morning, after driving back home, I pulled up their website to complain to them some more. They're the assholes that should have been fucked last night.
It seriously makes me reconsider going to see Hybrid in 2 weeks and Deep Dish in 4. VIP... ha! The Heretic wouldn't have treated me that way.Labels: breeder news, clubbing, drugs, election, electronica, Heretic, music, personal, WETbar

Weekends of Reruns
Last weekend, it was Sherwin. A boy who was one of the last ones I've dated locally. He came on kinda strong but didn't seem to want to take it any further. And he ignored my calls this past week to see if we could get together. After all, if we're both lonesome, and we know what we're good at... It's too bad he seems to have been playing Useless Ukes Games™.
This weekend, it was Ashley. Well, okay, no he didn't come on strong and we didn't do anything! But seeing my most important ex always has the ability to made me either quite delighted or absolutely miserable depending really on how I'm feeling at the time.
Oh, and there was also Raver J. Well he IS always the hottest thing ever. And quite easily accessible a majority of the time. Just as long as he hasn't got his glowing lights set on someone else before you get a chance. We had a very good time Friday night and I was reminded that I *DO* know what I'm doing with a boy when I finally get around to it.
So that's how things have been going there.
The writer's strike may be over in Hollywood, but I'm still seeing quite a few reruns if you know what I mean. Not that that is such a terrible thing. I mean if the boy is good, why not give it another look-see?Labels: boys, China, clubbing, Heretic, nakedness, personal, sex

Amateur party people.
New Years Eve is one of the only nights of the year where the non-professional party people try to have a good time. I'm all for sharing the love (and the dance floor) with them, but some of you bitches need to know when to say when about three cocktails before you fall into me. And I'm talking about actual girls. Seriously! You're coming into our gay nightclubs, all fine and well, but don't make complete asses of yourself. You're pissing me off!
On a more positive note: Kaze and Tatsuo's hospitality was so wonderful. I felt very loved while spending our third New Years Eve together as friends. I ventured to their home, which is very lovely. We watched part of the Japan 4 hour annual New Years Eve concert. Tat gave me more Japanese candy! Yum yum yum.
WETbar is where pretty much all of the girls taking spills with their drinks in hand took place. But it was also where we rung in the actual New Year. Who would have thought this time last year Britney Spears would have had made such a disgraceful fall only to be reclaimed as a diva the pretty boys all love singing and dancing to?
I didn't win any of the cash money drop, but then again, I wasn't really trying. And I wasn't dancing so much either. This was because there really wasn't much space to do anything other than perhaps survey the carnage.
A jaunt over to The Body Shop afterwards was filled with ALOT more fun than usual. While I've discussed at length how the after-hours club has simply not lived up to any expectations, last night they really put on a barn burner. Sure, it was mostly filled with the sketchiest of the bunch (partly because another after-hours party at Center Stage was shut down by the po-po), but it was the most fun I'd had there in a while. And perhaps for the first time, The Body Shop felt like a real club.
Today I've spent mostly resting. It was a really long final day of 2007, but I'm glad to say that I survived a particularly troublesome year.
I've also been slowly chipping away at editing down my winning entry for NaNoWriMo written back in November. It's a novel called "Later, Skater" and I'm really fond of it. Editing isn't a easy chore to say the least, but I really feel good about this project and hope it will be successful.
Glad to have each and every one of you to start off this new year. 2008 could end up being one of the most dramatic in the world we live in, but one thing will remain constant: Pixiesticks.org will still stand tall as one of the best places for yaoi and shota.
So stick around and Happy New Year.Labels: alcohol, boys, clubbing, DJ Kaze and Tatsuo, drugs, holiday news, Japan, NaNoWriMo, personal, pixiesticks, shota, The Body Shop, WETbar, works, yaoi

WETbar deserted the weekend before XMAS

DJ Gomi was spinning to a mostly empty WETbar last night. There were light crowd all over due to the traveling before the holiday. But even the rain couldn't dampen the fun I had hanging out with an overly chatty DJ Kaze and Tatsuo. They truly are some of the best friends I only get to see in the nightlife.
Except on New Years Eve this may change.
For the first time, I believe I'm going to be going to their house earlier in the evening in preperation for a club going oddessy that I have never attempted before in my life. 12 straight, or rather, not so straight, hours of party! WETbar 10pm-3am, Bodyshop 3am-7am, Heretic 7am-noon. Can we do it? Is it insane? The likely answers are yes and yes.
But back to Gomi. The extremely attractive DJ who got his roots basically from Junior Vasquez wasn't the powerhouse that I thought he was going to be. Of course, a DJ typically needs to feed off what the crowd gives them and well all I could manage was to melt into a pile of transfixed goo looking up at the cutie in the booth.Labels: clubbing, DJ Kaze and Tatsuo, Japan, WETbar

A long fought reward.
So after trying to pull pixiesticks.org out from the ashes the last three days, when I finally got the site running the way it's supposed to, I went out to reward myself with alcohol. Hey, I got my priorities people. I wanted booze and boys and in that order.
Heretic was moderately quiet likely due to both the holidays, I Am Legend being all legendary and shit, and it had rained all day. Thankfully Kaze and Tatsuo were there along with a lot of their aZn friends whom are delicious but sadly not desiring the pixie. That's one of the problems with being in a community for so long. Everyone already knows you and has made up their mind about you.
Still, it was quite fun and I enjoyed talking with Kaze, flirting with Tatsuo and Raver J who is a Chinese boy who just can't seem to keep his clothes on. Seriously, he's running around the place shirtless, his tall lanky body all proudly on display, and his athletic pants all slipping off his waistline. He has such a delicate delicious ass too. And you know the front part is quite nice too, if interestingly a bit like him overall -- long and skinny.
When the lights came on, a guy visiting from Europe was asking for directions to The Body Shop. I told him that I could drive him if he wanted. I was angling for some cash or maybe some sex you know? I drove him up there and instead he paid for my way into the place. Gah! I could have likely gotten in free anyway considering I used to work there and still on occasion work at Heretic, but anyway. It was cool and I was glad to have had another hour or so dancing and listening to DJ Yoshi Bear who is quite good.
It was a very nice night out. A great reward for all the difficulties I'd been going through with work and then the site falling all over itself like sumo wrestlers in a vat of Crisco.Labels: alcohol, boys, clubbing, DJ Kaze and Tatsuo, Heretic, pixiesticks, The Body Shop

Winds of change?
Kaze sadly didn't draw any more people than any other DJ has at The Body Shop in the last few months. But that doesn't mean a good time wasn't had. There were prolly a few more than a dozen or so revelers and thanks to his style of beats, prodominately stayed on the dance floor rather than lounging around elsewhere.
Elf and Colin joined me and it was a very fun time. I do have a bit of a hangover, because I somehow managed to put away lots of drinks. Even Elf got more than a bit tipsy with the Key Lime Pie doubleshot. Sooo tasty but sooo dangerous.
What was very different about this outing was how I feel now. I don't really feel that sense of pain of not having like I normally do after I spend some time with Elf. I'm not quite sure why, but I'm more than happy to not be so goth damned depressed about him.Labels: clubbing, colin, DJ Kaze and Tatsuo, Elf, The Body Shop

Quick hits.
* I saw Fred Claus and Lust, Caution yesterday and really liked both. That's kind of funny since Fred Claus is a slap-dash holiday comedy and Lust, Caution is a very serious buisness stoy from Ang Lee about infiltrating the bed of the enemy.
* Tonight is WETbar's 2nd Year Anniversary. I'll be going with Tatsuo. Tony Moran is the DJ so it should be hueg like X-BOX. I may go to Body Shop afterwards and enjoy hearing DJ Yoshi Bear since maybe that'll bring more gaysians out. Yeah. I just wrote that.
* Wrote two times the NaNo today since I skipped yesterday. It's going very very well.
* Yaoi post either tomorrow or Monday. Probably Monday.Labels: clubbing, DJ Kaze and Tatsuo, movies, NaNoWriMo, personal, The Body Shop, WETbar, yaoi

Nobody Shop
Well my first night working at The Body Shop and I think I'm going to like it very much. Working from 2am until 8am wasn't the horribleness that I thought it'd be. Though a more proper nap before hand is definately going to be in order.
Especially if they really start advertising the night and bring in more folks. I think if they were about 3 times busier than they were last night, then I'd be much happier about it. While I loved getting paid 40 bucks for sitting around listening to dance music, it would be nicer to have something to actually do.Labels: clubbing, personal, The Body Shop, work

Look at the hotties, workin' their bodies.
I just got a call from Allan who is the manager over at The Heretic, a gay nightclub here in Atlanta that I'm extremely loyal to. He called and offered me a job over at The Body Shop, a gay after hours nightclub here in Atlanta that I've been kind of indifferent about.
I'll be working the door, taking the monies, stamping the boys, and checking off any people on the guest list. Then after close, I'll be cleaning up.
The job is Friday (really Saturday) 2am until 8am. 8 bucks an hour. So not quite 50 bucks extra for me a week.
Of course, the real benefit is that I'll be getting my foot in the Ye Old Door™. He's already mentioned that if things go well, he'll cross-train me into other areas which could lead to my being employed at Heretic which was the original goal.
Regardless, I think I'm really going to enjoy this. I'm very excited even though it seems on the surface a small thing. It could be a catalystic change to my life which is sorely needed I think right now.Labels: clubbing, Heretic, personal, The Body Shop, work

LOL. Islam.
TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iranian police detained more than 200 people and seized alcohol and drugs in a raid on a "satanic" underground rock concert, media in the conservative Islamic state reported on Saturday.
Iran, which has launched an annual summer crackdown on "immoral behavior", bans alcohol, narcotics and parties with unrelated men and women dancing, drinking and mixing. Western popular music is frowned upon.
The police operation took place on Wednesday night in the town of Karaj near the capital Tehran, at an event with local disc jockeys, rock and rap groups performing, the media said.
"Most of those arrested are wealthy young people ... who came to this party with the goal of attending a provocative, satanic concert," daily Tehran-e Emrouz quoted a senior police official, Reza Zarei, as saying.
Karaj's public prosecutor, Ali Farhadi, said invitations had been sent out via the Internet and that people from Britain and Sweden were among those held. Zarei suggested they were expatriate Iranians visiting the country.
Farhadi said 150 bottles of alcoholic drinks, 800 "obscene" CDs and different kinds of drugs had been confiscated by police, as well as "inappropriate" dresses that those behind the event were giving to female guests as gifts.
"Some 230 people who attended a rock party in Karaj were identified and arrested," Farhadi said on the Web site of Iran's state broadcaster.
He said 20 video cameras had also been seized and that the organizers had planned to blackmail girls after filming "inappropriate and obscene" videos of them.
Under sharia, Islamic law, imposed after Iran's 1979 revolution, women are obliged to cover their hair and wear long, loose clothing to disguise their figures and protect their modesty. Violators can receive lashes, fines or imprisonment.Labels: alcohol, clubbing, drugs, international news, music, religious news

10 Things I Learned in NYC this Pride 2007
1. Even if I wait a day or so, I can't even possibly out-cum pixiesticks.org fanboy Paul. Christ, you know you could put an eye out with that stuff? Do animators from Japan come stay with you to get ideas on how to make their scenes so squishy?
2. Churches are killing Gay Pride Parades. I think it's really awesome that you churches are open and accepting. But when there are that many of you, a part of me thinks you're seripticiously just trying to sneak in and destroy us from the inside. So be open and accepting like what Jesus would do, but stop marching in the parade. You're making the drag queens nervous and taking away the attention from the important issues that are covered during the parade like HIV, Transgender equality, YouthPride, and so many more...
3. The Stanton Island Ferry is free and the best touristy thing you can possibly do. You'll get a great sweeping view of the city, the Statue of Liberty, and all that. Plus you'll wanna do it again right away, since there isn't much to enjoy on the island. Oppositely, Times Square sucks cocks.
4. The Web, a gay Asian nightclub, is simply heaven on earth for someone like me. I got there around 9 to make sure to capture at least two of the "two for one happy hour" drink specials. And it just slowly but surely started filling up more and more and more with happy go lucky Asian boys. So fucking hot. So mercilessly fucking hot. In fact, to return after having a smoke break took twenty minutes due to the completely packing in of hot Asian boys. And they were so friendly. Not stuck up or anything. Maybe it's because I was in a major major minority. I'd say only 3% or so of the crowd were white.
5. The art of bartering is still alive and well. I was wearing my 300 The Movie shirt to The Web, and one of the boys asked about it. I ended up trading it to him for some seriously delightful making out. Fortunately, he gave me his white tank top so I didn't have to go home topless.
6. Take advantage of Go-Go Boys. I know this may seem like a DUH type situation, but I don't really associate with Go-Go Boys on a regular basis. Heretic had some for a while, but RJ (another hot Asian boy) has moved on to other things and so the whole project dissolved. Back in The Web, I met up with one who had blond streaked hair, loved to braid mine, and he had such a young look and braces. I couldn't believe he was even 18, he was so bishounen. So I definately tipped him quite a bit, but unlike Paul over at Porkys "Hot Mess" later in the week, I really didn't sexually capitalize on the fact I was forking over money to a sweet thing who was working it for the money.
7. Drunk and blind (due to your glasses being in your pocket) is no way to leave a club at 4am. Especially if you miss your subway transfers and end up lost. Wandering the streets of Manhattan as the sun is starting to come up. It's just not pretty.
8. Hail cab. Get inside. THEN tell them where you're going. That way when you're drunk and blind (due to your glasses being in your pocket) he'll be forced to actually take you to your destination instead of just muttering sorry and driving off.
9. Chinatown is fucking awesome. While there was the obligatory Pocky purchases, there isn't that much fake-like about this little piece of Manhattan. I thought it'd be trying to cater to the tourists just like so much of the city, but no no, it was authentic for the most part. It's also where I'd like to live if I ever moved to NYC.
10. However, since I was just visiting, after several days, it was definately time to come home. I love New York City. I could become a New York City boy, even with my wide-eyed youthful additude -- they couldn't make a cynic out of me!! -- but going away from Atlanta for a while always makes me return with a big smile. Because Atlanta is my home and I love it first.Labels: boys, clubbing, epic, Heretic, new york city, personal, pride

Another Weekend
It was another weekend this weekend.
Not to belittle my friends Kevin and Tatsuo who are really really awesome, especially such that they gave me a lift from Heretic to WETbar last night, but, well, it was merely another regular ol' weekend this weekend.
The only differences were that I did write up a first draft of a short film that Colin wants to film. I'll will keep you all updated on that, of course.
Oh and it seems that Elf has pretty much abandoned me.Labels: clubbing, colin, DJ Kaze and Tatsuo, Elf, Heretic, personal, WETbar

Boy Pop
I met a boy last Friday at the Heretic. I didn't write about the encounter like I normally would. I think the reasons for that are more clear today, nearly a week after meeting him. See, he's 21, quite uke, delicious "scene" hair and fashion and body without the attitude/annoyance. We had a lot in common such as yaoi, music and movies, and completely random but interwoven comments.
Oh, and we actually talked in between heavy snogging. Our chemistry was really good, both on the dance floor and off. To bystanders, it may have looked like we were already involved boyfriends.
But we didn't sleep together. Not that night. Nor the next evening. Of course, he actually canned our plans to see each other that next evening due to the rain. And it was raining. I know, because I was already at the nightclub when he canceled. *rolls eyes* (At least DJ Kaze and his long time partner Tatsuo was there.)
So a week has gone by, and I gave him another call. I said that I wished I could see him at Jungle on Saturday night. Last week he mentioned he was going to be there with his friends. But I won't be going. Jungle is going to be too packed and too expensive for my tastes, promise of boy booty or not. Superstar DJ Tony Moran is going to be there with the 5th Annual Queer As Folk Babylon Tour. Even though the show is over, the party continues on.
I got the voice mail. You know, the bane of cell phone existence. They can be easily ignored, they eat up your minutes with all their chatter before you get to the beep, and really make you feel bad that you didn't get the actual person you dialed.
So, what will happen next and why should a seme like me care anyway? Well, believe it or not, I *am* a sensitive seme. Especially after being plied with sensuality. Personally, I see three possible outcomes:
1. I'll probably get a text message back saying something like, "yeah too bad, maybe we'll see each other some time soon." This is how he canceled seeing me the day after we first met and made that plan last week. So, it won't really mean much considering it doesn't have a voice to back up the thought.
2. I may get no response at all. That'll really reinforce my thought that the night was more of an intoxicated experience for the boy I'd met. It means I was a convenient person to share a bit of boy/boy fantasy with when it was desired at the time.
3. Or maybe, just maybe, this time, this will be the boy that will call me back and give me some earnest hope that we actually will get to spend time with one another again. And even better, maybe we'd work out exactly when that would happen during that call.
I hate to be pessimistic. Especially after feeling so reassured of why I go out, and why I do really like boys last weekend. But, I just don't see the last of the three things happening.Labels: boys, clubbing, DJ Kaze and Tatsuo, Heretic, personal

Al Gore is pissed!
It was very fleeting, no doubt, but tonight as I was outside on the patio of The Heretic here in Atlanta, there was indeed snow flurries wisping about.Labels: clubbing, weather

Flashdance

More than 4,000 clubbers danced through the rush hour at Victoria station in Britain's biggest flash mob stunt.
Revellers responded to e-bulletins urging them to "dance like you've never danced before" at 6.53pm.
There were knowing looks and giggles among the casually dressed crowd that gathered from 6.30pm, wearing earphones.
A deafening 10-second countdown startled station staff and commuters before the concourse erupted in whoops and cheers. MP3 players and iPods emerged and the crowd danced wildly to their soundtracks in silence - for two hours.
University of London student Lucy Dent, 20, was among the flash mobbers. She said: "It was my first flash mob and I'm hooked. I've been dancing non-stop since we began.
"I didn't even notice the commuters. When you get into the dancing you're oblivious to them and forget you're at a railway station."
Chris Gale, 39, brought his daughter Sophia, three, and son Jacob, six. Mr Gale, a property entrepreneur from Bromley, said: "The children were a bit bewildered at first but then had fantastic fun. Some of the commuters are only interested in their trains and had to weave round us to the platforms. But most of them stood and stared, finding it hugely entertaining - and some even joined in.
"I saw the straightest looking guy in a suit with his briefcase doing the freakiest dance moves."
Last night's flash mob ended when four vanloads of police dispersed the dancers. The event was staged by clubbing website mobileclubbing.com. Invitation emails and texts went out a week in advance.
One commuter failed to see the funny side: "I was trying to get my train home but the whole concourse was filled with students dancing and I couldn't get through. The last thing I wanted after a hard day at work was to miss my train because of the idiots."
Flash mobs, groups of people brought together via the internet who perform a bizarre act together before disappearing, took off in America in 2003.Labels: clubbing, electronica

No CyberRaver, but still Elf.
It was a strange night tonight. Elf has lost his ID again, so there wasn't a CyberRaver to be enjoyed. I had a few drinks at Heretic and then at Blakes and saw a few old faces. No really, some of these bitches are starting to look old.
I then went to Elf's and watched Taboo. It's a pretty lame-brain gay samurai movie that is about as creative as most doujinshis.
While there, I related to him how I had recently watched Transamerica. It's a movie he actually liked, surprisingly. Elf said that it felt like a real portrayal and that was important. I tended to agree. It also let me tell him that I was sorry for not always seeing how difficult things were from his perspective.
So that was good.
I also disposed of the gift from the shady character from earlier in the week. I took a little bite out of it, just for my own amusement. Not really so much effect, maybe a bit speedy which means I definately did the right thing by not doing it.
As I've mentioned before, I'm pretty sure I'm tired of alot of this stuff for the time being.Labels: clubbing, drugs, electronica, Elf, personal, |
